Flower-ful flower spray

A few weeks ago, I had a request to make the flowers for a wedding cake - I was traveling during the actual date of the wedding and could not make the cake itself.

Below are some photos of the making of, assembling, and final grouping of the flowers, as well as a photo of how they looked on the bride and groom's cake.

I made 14 peonies in varying stages of opening, 10 roses, 35 hydrangeas and about 100 hydrangea buds, 25 freesia, 25 buds, and 20 jasmine.

They were all made with Wilton gum paste, then hand-painted with Rainbow Dust and Sugarflair petal dusts.

The 60cm spray was assembled using floral wire and floral tape, fully ready to be placed on the cake on the day of the wedding.

Quinta do Marques made the cake, they bought the Satin Ice fondant from thegreatamericancake.com, and the silver cake plateau was rented for the day from Julie's Cakes.
